Hijab is a scarf that covers head and chest of women.
- Scarf cannot be too tight, that an individual has hard time breathing/eating, and etc
- Scarf cannot be transparent or see through
- Scarf cannot be too short, that it shows ears, hairs, and neck (front and back)
Part 1—In order to do hijab, one HAS to be dressed modestly.
Modest meaning
HAS TO BE CANNOT BE
Loose fitting tops Cannot be transparent/see through/cannot be tight or revealing in any aspect/cannot be tight fitting
Loose fitting pants Cannot be transparent/see through/cannot be tight or revealing in any aspect/cannot be tight fitting
Loose fitting skirts Cannot be transparent/see through/cannot be tight or revealing in any aspect/cannot be tight fitting
Long sleeves Cannot be transparent/see through/cannot be tight or revealing in any aspect/cannot be tight fitting
No makeup/Light make up Cannot be full of make up
Light perfume/fragrance Cannot be heavy of fragrance
Clean or henna nails Cannot use nail polish
Feet covered with socks/tights Cannot show feet/ankles
Soundless shoes/low sound shoes Cannot wear high heels that make loud sounds

Isn’t there a difference of opinion when it comes to showing the feet because I know there are many arguments and the one is that it would create a hardship during the times of the Sahaba people would walk barefoot because of the desert and there is a hadith that the prophet’s wives used to show the back of their feet. “”The woman is to be covered,” along with it being established that some of her body is excluded due to hardship of [avoiding] exposure, then, by analogy, it should necessitate that the feet also be excluded, due to the corroboration of hardship.”,
“Ibn `Abidin reported this as one of the authentic views in Radd al-Muhtar .
It may be noted that Hafiz Ibn Taymiyyah, the Hanbali, also favored this opinion. He says,
“And similar [is the case with] the foot. It is permissible for her to show it [in salah] according to Abu Hanifah, and [this] is the stronger [position], for `A’ishah considered it of the apparent beauty. . . . . So, this is an evidence that women used to show their feet initially, just as they used to show their faces and hands . . . . for they used not to walk in khuffs or shoes. [Moreover], to cover these in [salah] poses a great hardship, and Umm Salamah said, ‘A woman should pray in an ample garment which covers the tops of her feet,’ and so when she makes sajdah, the bottoms of her feet may show.” [ Hijab al-Mara’ah wa-Libasuha fi al-Salah , pp. 17-18] ”
I guess it goes with Niqab that you cant just stop at Hijab but keep going up levels to covering the entire Awrah as the Wives of the Prophet (SAW) ♥

Yes there is a HUGE debate on that aspect of hijab, about being covered vs non covered, and you brought up very good point, Alhumdulillah ( الحمد لله)! Let me do more research and then write an actual post on hijab on feet aspect In Sha’Allah ( إن شاء الله). Jazaka’Allah Khair ( جزاك اللهُ خيراً) 💗

I know all the madhabs except hanafi view that they should be covered , my dads sister in Morocco wears niqab but I dont know if she overs her feet or not, my dad follows the Maliki school they definitely say they should be covered its just ibn-taymmiyah & hanafi school I am still researching which school I should follow…

Well as far as Islam goes sister, Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) is One and I don’t understand why there are so many branches and aspects within Islam.
We, my family and I, don’t exactly follow any certain views. I have been taught if I have a certain question, to look up in Qur’an and Sunnah. If it’s not there, then most likely its not part of the deen.
Also Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) made this deen so simple to follow and obey. If we end up following different school of views and thoughts, then we end up losing ourselves and Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) has mention that He has made this deen for us and made it easy for us.
Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) knows best

It’s not a sect they are just schools of thought, difference of opinion which is a Mercy from Allah , Allah says in the Quran he does not recognize sects! There is only one right path and that is Quran, Sunnah & Sahaba

Salam Alaikum sister after quite some research , on the subject regarding the feet I have come to the conclusion I was wrong it is required for Hijab! I started wearing hijab a year ago so I didn’t know because the qur-an I have at home I have two different translations one says face veil, hands & feet only one eye too see the way is FARD. But the other translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali just says veil to cover the bosom , not realizing there is many ahadith that talk about the entire body being cover which includes the feet. I know the Jilbab ayah . I guess I need to really study arabic and tafsir because there is really not a grey area concerning this. Even Shiite believe the women’s feet should be covered. I am sunni I follow the sunnah and this is apart of it. JazzakAllah kheir sister I will strive to do this to complete Hijab it has been bothering me for awhile.

Sister, these viewpoints are Sunni perspective (as I am Sunni too).
The main question arises is many men/women argue is that while a woman is in Salah, her feet can be bare (without socks or any covering), which is true, but as long as dress/clothes is very long and her ankles have to be covered.
Face veil is, respect to different opinions, quite grey area for me, as I haven’t don’t much research on that aspect. Though will have to do the proper research for the blog and Muslimahs In Sha’Allah ( إن شاء الله).
Jilbab, is something I believe very personal. We, Muslimahs already wear long sleeves (I assume, especially if one is doing hijab) and doing hijab is already step 1. Jilbab helps cover the actual “figure” of a woman, which is ok, if wearing transparent or tight clothes, but if we already wearing loose clothes, then Jilbab is, I believe to be optional.
I wear Jilbab with hijab, but really depends on my outfit. If I believe my outfit it modest (loose fitting) then I will not go for Jilbab, esp in summer months, but for whatever reason, I feel uncomfortable, I will wear Jilbab. Doing hijab for a while, we, Muslimahs, get a feeling by Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) that it’s good or not Alhumdulillah ( الحمد لله).

Yes , my dads brother got a degree in islamic studies in morocco and he says it is. But going based of the Jilbab like you said we should be wearing loose clothes wether it is an abaya or pants and top that are loose which will please Allah is hijab. Niqab I am not there yet I am still perfecting my hijab inShaAllah I respect all the sisters who do & wear the hijab in its proper form. It’s so hard because I get confused seeing all the pictures with Hijabis showing their feet . I guess my shortcoming was I thought since they do I can too…😔 May Allah forgive me, and make it easier for me to do it.

Sister me 2 am trying to also working on perfecting my hijab. Also sister hijab has so many levels, it’s unbelievable and with each level, it has its own challenges and blessings. May Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) help is Aameen.
Yes I do too see many sisters that are wearing hijab in their way, (tight clothes, short sleeves, high heels, no socks, make up, & etc), but then I bite my lip and say silent prayer, because who are we to judge yeah? That’s Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى)’s job!
Sister Masha’Allah ( ماشاء الله) what amazes me is that some sisters like you are willing to be flex for Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) Alhumdulillah ( الحمد لله). It’s hard, but Alhumdulillah ( الحمد لله) Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) is giving us this opportunity to learn and shape ourselves for Him.
