Submission to Islam or Muslims

Bismillah e rahmani raheem (In the name of Allah (swt) {God}, Most Gracious, Most Merciful)
Bismillah e rahmani raheem (In the name of Allah (swt) {God}, Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

The word “Muslim” means one who submits to the will of Allah (swt), regardless of their race, gender, nationality or ethnic background. Being a Muslim entails recognizing and submitting to Allah (swt)’s will, while doing one’s level best to live in accordance with His message.

Some people mistakenly believe that Islam is just a religion for Arabs, but nothing could be further from the truth. Not only are there reverts to Islam in every corner of the world, especially in England and America, but by taking a look at the Muslim World from Bosnia to Nigeria, and from Indonesia to Morocco, one can clearly see that Muslims come from many various races, ethnic groups and nationalities.

It is also interesting to note that in actual fact, more than 80% of all Muslims are not Arabs – there are more Muslims in Indonesia than in the whole Arab World! So even though it is true that most Arabs are Muslims, the large majority of Muslims are not Arabs.

However, anyone who submits completely to Allah (swt) and worships Him alone is a Muslim.

*Allah (swt) is an Arabic word for God.
*(swt) – Subhanahu wa ta’ala, an Arabic phrase meaning “May He (Allah) be Glorified and Exalted”
*Reverts – a person who has come become a Muslim, from another religion/faith

I visited your blog after your comment on mine. The blog seems nice, and you seem to have good knowledge. What are your thoughts on religios conversion and ‘Reverts’ as you mention? Also, why are they called ‘reverts’?

I personally believe that each person should be free to practice his/her own religion, and even be free to convert, but the will for conversion should come from within and not from any external agent. Mahatma Gandhi had similar thoughts on the same.

Islam believes the same, the change and acceptance of Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) comes from within, not just in action or whatever the case may be. For example many people will be born in Islam, one is a Muslim by birth, but a Muslim is one who surrenders to Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) with his/her whole heart, mind, and body and believes in worshipping Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى). In being a “good” Muslim, one has to be good in manners, modest, humble, and forgiving. He/She has to learn to accept diversity, care about goodwill of people and be a positive role model.

Our Prophet, Muhammed (SAW) (صلى الله عليه وسلم‎ ), always have illustrated forgiveness, no matter what.

Though today the society and so called traditions have twisted the faith of Islam, unfortunately.

The reason an individual is considered “revert” not “convert” is because, all creations, Muslims and non Muslims alike are made by Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى). So in Islam, the belief is everything belongs to Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى) and to Him Alone. He is the Creator, and everything else is his creation. Everyone belongs to Allah (SWT) ( الله سُبْحَانَهُ وتَعَالَى).

The inner faith is supposed to come with proper knowledge and understanding!

Thank you so much for taking some of your time to visit this blog. I deeply appreciate your time and welcome any/all questions. Peace be with you!
